SOCIAL SKILLS FOR ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS

Island Behavioral Health is offering the evidence-based UCLA PEERS Social Skills Group for Teens and Young Adults. Jordan Gibson, BCBA and Dr. Shawna Ueyama are both certified providers and will be holding sessions for participants and their parents. 

Teens/Young Adults will learn to:

  • Improve conversation skills

  • Use common interests to build friendships

  • Manage teasing, bullying, peer pressure, and other social challenges

  • Use humor skillfully

  • Host a gettogether

  • Choose healthy friendships

  • Mend bad reputations

  • Handle conflict and disagreements

  • Understand nonverbal social cues

  • Flirt

  • Find out if someone is romantically interested in you

  • Plan and go on dates

GREAT FOR ADOLESCENTS AND YOUNG ADULTS WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS, DEPRESSION, ADHD, ANXIETY, AND OTHER SOCIAL OR BEHAVIORAL DIFFICULTIES. 

NEXT GROUPS STARTING IN Summer 2021

Age range:

Adolescents: 9-13

 

Duration: approx. 16 weeks

 

Insurance accepted: HMSA, Alohacare, HMAA, UHA, and Kaiser (QUEST and commercial plans)*

Parent and teen sessions run simultaneously. Parent participation required
